昨天傍晚离开庇哩亚不久就到了帖撒罗尼迦住下，这是仅次于雅典的希腊第二大城，也是希腊北部最重要的城市，共聚集了一百多万人口，超过一半的希腊公民都居住在雅典与帖撒罗尼迦这两个南北大城里。这两个大城又都有着完备的现代化深水码头，是希腊一百多个海港之中，货运量最大的两个海港，至今希腊船东仍控制着全球 20%的商船运力。成长于七八十年代的伙伴们，都应该听过“希腊船王”这个族群，在 50-70 年代，几位希腊老船王的高调闪光生活时常被全球的八卦新闻津津乐道，在苏伊士运河危机期间，运费暴涨，他们一天赚的钱就够买一艘新船。新一代的“希腊船王”们，相对低调得多，业务也变得多元化了，虽然在福布斯富豪榜上远不如科技新贵们那么瞩目，但属于“榜单上最庞大、最抱团的’单一隐形行业势力’。” （AI 语）

离开卡瓦拉，我们就驱车去到北面不远处的腓立比城，或许是因为驻防城没有太发达的经济活动，故腓立比遗址的面积很大，却没有什么比较完整的建筑留下来。最让基督徒牵挂的景点，当属保罗和他的同伴西拉当年被囚禁的牢房，这牢房可能还没完全挖掘好，小小的囚室堪堪够坐进去三五个人，实在配不上《使徒行传》里所描写的震撼场面：“保罗和西拉，祷告唱诗赞美神，‘众’囚犯也都侧耳而听，忽然地大震动……监门立刻‘全’开……禁卒一醒，看见监门全开，以为囚犯已经逃走，就拔刀要自杀。”（《徒》16:26-27）
