Mission Testimony

In mid-December 2024, I experienced my very first international mission trip. I went with a club at my school called Global Medical Missions Alliance, a faith-based, healthcare-oriented club. We partnered with several doctors and traveled to Honduras right after winter break began.

Before the trip, we did training with others from my school. It was such a meaningful opportunity—not only to serve the Lord internationally, but also to serve in a field I’m passionate about. I was excited to sign up, and I’m truly grateful for it.

Our chapter, the UGA chapter, prepared by learning some Spanish and planning Vacation Bible School activities for the children at the school where we stayed. While in Honduras, we did a mix of VBS, triaging, talking with patients, and sharing about God with people in the community. We even went into public areas like malls to connect with people. My Spanish isn’t strong, but we were given scripts to help us communicate, and that was such a blessing.

I loved serving both as a member of my chapter and as a small group leader. Each day we had devotionals in the morning and worship in the afternoon and heard testimonies from doctors about how they continue to serve Christ in their careers and personal lives. It was inspiring to see how God moves in so many different places.

Honduras is about 90 percent Christian, so much of our ministry was encouraging people in their faith and learning their testimonies with the help of translators. It was beautiful to share my own testimony and talk about God, the Bible, and faith with fellow believers—even when we didn’t share the same language.

Seeing the children at the school was especially eye-opening. It reminded me that God is at work in people of all ages, not just adults. This experience was truly beautiful, and I would encourage anyone who feels led to go on a mission trip. It doesn’t have to be international—even serving in your own community is a powerful way to share the gospel.

I’m so thankful I went on this trip, and I hope to join future medical missions or other mission trips, whether in Augusta or overseas—wherever God opens the door. I look forward to continuing to serve Him through missions and by sharing the gospel with those around me.
