As a child, I grew up attending church and fellowship. I became familiar with biblical principles and ideas, so much so that the concept of Jesus dying on the cross became a normalized idea for me, as I didn’t realize the magnitude of this sacrifice and precious gift.

Growing older and less naive, I came to understand the depth of the gospel through experiences such as Christian camps, retreats, and other places that fostered fruitful, godly discussions. I vividly remember hearing a speaker preach about God’s great love and sacrifice for us and my subsequent acknowledgement of how fundamentally broken I really was and how much I needed saving.

After understanding how much God has really done for me, I began to see both His divine power and my own shortcomings much more in my life. I strive to walk more in His ways and live my life set forth by Jesus’s example. I have become more aware of sin when I am surrounded by it and pray to God for strength to go against it. With every single decision I make, I realize that choosing the alternative to sin is the least I can do as a child of God’s creation. Knowing that this God has a plan for me, I am able to place less value on worldly ambitions. I no longer stress so hard on maintaining those picture-perfect grades and resume builders but, instead, focus on maximizing God-given gifts and opportunities in a way that glorifies Him.

I want to be baptized so that I can take my faith to its next stage and be able to publicly profess my love for Christ and my desire to fulfill his commands. Because God has loved me immensely and I have been able to live through and experience His unending love for me, I wish to commit myself to the Lord and His church, a small gesture compared to everything God has done for me. Given the opportunity to receive baptism, I am very eager to proclaim my faith in this way. Although still struggling with finding a balance between worldly pursuits and spiritual devotion, I know that I can turn to God’s comfort and guidance, put my full faith in Him, and trust in His plan.
