Josh’s Easter Baptism Testimony

Growing up in China, I didn’t have the slightest idea what a god would be like. I wasn’t exposed to the gospel or anything about Christ. Frankly, I didn’t care about religion. Before Christ, I was very anxious about things at school and the relationships I had with people; the thought of appearances was always at the top of my mind.
I remember signing up for my first winter retreat in 2022 just for fun, but right before it I went through a hard time at home. Throughout the retreat, I was really anxious about my parents and was praying for them. Then one night of the retreat, during our worship, I just felt comfortable peace, like my worries being lifted away. That’s when I really started praying to God more and realized, wow, God really loves and cares for me!

Honestly, Christ has shifted my perspective on the world entirely. I no longer really worry about my relationships with others because I know that he will provide for me. The most important change is that I now know that there is a loving and merciful God who sent his son to die on the cross for our sins. Knowing Jesus paid for everything allowed me to stop trying to be perfect for everyone else.
In my current walk with Christ, I’ve been relying on and trusting in him more than trying to do things myself. The hope I have in Christ is that he will be with me through everything for the rest of my life. To serve God, I would really like to take some sort of leadership role—maybe coming to FNYG more and continuing to help in the children’s ministry with the teachers.
