Serene’s Easter Baptism Testimony

Before Christ encountered me, I didn’t know Him at all, and my purpose was based on wavering aspects of life. I was part of a big community in which I was completely immersed, to the point that nothing else seemed to matter.
I had to move counties for the first time in many years when I had just begun going to church. Everything became so different––my social life, my academics–– and I felt lost, alone and left to survive on my own. I fell into a confused state, committing many sins with my newfound freedom and independence. Despite these setbacks, I was fortunate enough to come to church frequently, and God’s word touched my heart through sermons, retreats, and mission trips. He provided the exact wisdom and insight I needed when I was struggling with a particular sin.
Now, I understand He is more than just a source of help. Jesus sacrificed Himself for our sins, and God is absolutely majestic in how He crafted us and His Word. I love Him and I want to proudly call myself a Christian, a child of God. My life now looks to God for guidance and judgment of my own actions.

In the future, I plan to evangelize, perhaps through mission trips, so more people can experience His transforming power. I’m praying for the Holy Spirit to work in me so I can communicate God’s Word truthfully. I want to work with others to establish programs, such as Vacation Bible School (VBS), in specific churches and help develop smaller communities and bring them closer to God. However, I recognize that this mission will be effective only after further maturation of my spiritual relationship with Jesus. Being baptized today is my first step toward that goal. Thank you.
