I’ve attended church since I was young, but never truly understood the purpose. I always thought of it as a place just for socializing or listening to someone talk, I never took Sunday school or fellowship seriously or understood them at all. That was what I always cared about. As I grew older, I started to learn to take things a bit more seriously, but still didn’t understand what the purpose was. At one point, I even thought I was wasting my time, which was completely wrong.
Two and a half years ago I received a devotions book and started reading it every night, and I realized I that I needed the Lord, and I needed the Holy Spirit to guide me. I found purpose. I started to understand the meaning of being a Christian, and why the Lord is powerful. I started to pray every day, and tried to get rid of my old mindset, and I was letting Christ in my life.
Ever since I came to Christ, I have been inspired, and I feel better every single day. I know that God has a plan for me, and it is important for me to be able to listen and obey the Lord. Letting God guide me has blessed me, and it has given me a new life. I have hope now and a clearer understanding of why I attend church and why I want to commit my life to God. This past year, my faith has strengthened, and I decided to start serving the Lord by joining the worship team. I have built a better relationship with God and continue my spiritual growth.
I want to continue to serve in the Lord’s house and encourage others to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior as well. I want to be more like Jesus and continue to grow spiritually.
Praise the Lord, for He has rescued me from the pit of despair and saved me from my sin!
