Hello, I’m Lori Shen, and this is my testimony. My life before Christ was empty, as I constantly sought validation from others and always found myself being disappointed. I put my energy into friendships that weren’t good for me, hoping that they would fill my void. The need for approval, in terms of worldly values, turned into a constant cycle of putting a lot of effort into friendships that left me confused and disappointed. I felt empty as I was seeking that validation from someone who couldn’t fill my life.
I slowly found my way out of the cycle by God bringing strong, faithful people into my life and having Him work through them.
They showed me what a true friendship should be like and, more importantly, helped me realize that the truest friendship you can have is your relationship with Jesus Christ. I put more of my energy into building my relationship with God, strengthening my faith in Him, connecting with the people in the church community, and becoming closer with other youth members. I began to find my purpose through serving and having stronger ties with God’s people.
My life has changed by me being happier and content with who and what I have. I can understand that everything that happens in my life is a part of God’s plan and that those things should be trusted. I find myself enjoying the little things without having to worry about things that are out of control. I can carry myself with more confidence and be at peace, knowing that God is my closest friend who cares for me and watches over me.
I was raised in a God-fearing household and grew up in this church, but I haven’t felt ready and firm with my decision until now. I want to be baptized to proclaim my choice as an individual to accept Jesus into my life and have Him work through me. God has done amazing things in my life, and I want to take that next step in my faith with Him.
